In the early 17th Century, the Chen family combined existing martial arts with Taoist breathing and meditation techniques to create the original Tai-chi. Not until 1928, when two family members moved to Beijing to begin teaching martial arts, did the world outside their village have the chance to learn this art.

About the Teacher
Shane is a licensed acupuncturist trained in classical style Chinese acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and tui-na (Chinese style bodywork). Through millenia of use and refinement, the practice of acupuncture as presented in the 2,000 year old Chinese medical classics has developed into the safe and highly effective treatment modality practiced throughout the world today. Modern medical research into subtle and powerful channels of electrical conduction and fluid metabolism in the body has helped facilitate a 21st century understanding of ancient practices, while often providing a physical explanation for what have previously been seen as mystical concepts.
Shane understands that treatment methods are only as valuable as they are effective, and that effective treatment can only proceed from accurate diagnosis. Using his knowledge of Chinese medical theory and practice he searches for the root causes of pain and disease, then works to eliminate them. He has found that acupuncture is especially effective in treating the myriad problems brought about by the stress and overwork all too common in modern life.
